Costa Rica Family Adventure
This trip combines activities like heart-pumping whitewater rafting and jungle exploration for a memorable and fun Costa Rica family adventure vacation. This itinerary is a blend of must-vist places in the country - the northern Caribbean and wild Osa Pensinsula - for your family to have the opportunity to see an amazing variety of exotic wildlife including crocodiles, turtles, monkeys, toucans, macaws, iguanas and more.
Day 1: Welcome to Costa Rica!
Meet our local representative as you step out of the airport for a transfer to the Hotel Bougainvillea. Located in the suburb of Santo Domingo, a twenty minute ride from the international airport. The three-story hotel is set in spacious gardens with paths winding through tropical flowers and garden benches. The accommodating large rooms offer two queen size beds televisions and balconies. Your adrenaline will be pumping today! Meet our river guide at your hotel and head east towards the Caribbean Coast on the road through the dense Braulio Carrillo National Park.Day 3: The Turrialba Valley
A picturesque drive through mountainous farmland and forest brings you to the heart of the Turrialba Valley.Day 4: Tortuguero National Park
Your drive to the Caribbean coast begins early! Drive through coffee and sugar cane plantations on a two hour trip to the lowlands. Upon arrival to the dock, meet the boat for the 2-4 hour ride to Tortuguero.
As your boat weaves through the forest, you are immersed in lowland rainforest. Take your The Evergreen Lodge sit surrounded by the tropical rain forest of Tortuguero with one of the canals running in front of the lodge. Since the lodge is secluded you can see and hear nature at its best. A very unique swimming pool surrounded by the gardens of heliconias, orchids and palms with a back ground of the Tortuguero jungle along with 26 comfortable rooms, all spacious, with comfortable beds, private bathrooms, hot water, and ceiling fans. Arrive at the lodge with plenty of time to explore the surroundings. A visit the Tortuguero villa and the Caribbean Conservation Corporation research center and museum are included. Day 5: Explore the Canals
Wake up with the call of howler monkeys and savor a local breakfast at the lodge overlooking the canal’s scenery. After breakfast explore the creeks of Tortuguero National Park by boat, spotting iguanas, monkeys, crocodiles and beautiful birds as you cross under the shady tress, merging and making a marvelous canopy passageway. Overnight at Evergreen Lodge. [BLD]Day 6-7-8: The Wild Osa Peninsula and Tiskita Jungle Lodge
Fly back to San Jose to connect with a 1-hour flight that takes you to a private airstrip at the Tiskita Jungle Lodge.
Tiskita is a private reserve of 400 acres comprised of rain forest and an exotic fruit farm. This family owned lodge has 14 rustic guest cabins which capture gentle sea breezes and feature panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and the Osa Peninsula. Cabins have twin beds, a private bath and a verandah. The original farmhouse serves as the main lodge and dining room where delicious home cooked meals are served family style and feature exotic fruit from Tiskita’s tropical fruit farm. All meals are included at this intimate and beautiful retreat. Electricity is generated on site and lights out is generally 9PM. Two guided hikes through the private rain forest and the exotic fruit farm are included. You can also swim in fresh water jungle pools and a swimming pool. Bird watching is excellent, with over 270 species identified like local wildlife including spider, howler, and capuchin monkeys, toucans, scarlet macaws, and many others. As you take your flight back to San Jose, take one more look at the horizon of the Pacific Ocean, its blue waters will remain in your mind for days or maybe months or until your next visit.
