Spot: Santa Leticia
Zone: Apaneca – an indigenous village in the coffee highlands.
Good Stuff:
A haven for hundreds of local and migratory birds, Santa Leticia is a getaway up in the highlands of the country, amid beautiful mountains.
They pride themselves on their sustainable shade-grown coffee which provides a natural habitat for the many birds that live in the area. The rooms are interspersed among 7 acres of gardens, and you are surrounded by 230 acres of coffee fields and a Mayan archaeological site. Each room has direct TV, hot water, private baths and the solar heated swimming pool and hammocks are close by for some ultimate relaxation. Near indigenous villages and the natural forest reserve El Imposible, here you are in the heart of what they call the “Mile High and Heavenly” region.
What we love: Listening to the chanting of birdcalls and enjoying a swim high up in the mountains.
