The Good Stuff:

The Hermitage Inn was recently completely renovated to include a wide array of green-friendly amenities.Nestled on 100 acres of lawns, fields, and woodlands, this splendid Country Inn offers a retreat from everyday life.Surrounded by the Green Mountain National Forest, we are privileged to be home to some of the most attractive and beautiful settings Vermont has to offer.

What We Love:

Our property gives guests the luxury of first-class service and style while maintaining the “home away from home” appeal.Whether you are coming to us from down the road or across the country, we make everyone feel right at home.

Green Cred:

  • Water is conserved in guest rooms by the use of low-flow shower heads and commodes.

  • Public and employee facilities are equipped with motion sensors in order to reduce water waste, and all lighting fixtures are on motion sensors.

  • Guest participation is encouraged using a “Green Initiative” letter placed on each bed providing instruction that linens and towels are only changed when requested.

  • Natural light and ventilation are maximized.

  • Energy Star lighting is utilized throughout the inn.Guest rooms are equipped with low-voltage lighting, and compact fluorescent lights (CFLs, CVUs and LEDs) are used wherever possible, especially in guest rooms. In addition, down lighting is used outdoors, where appropriate, to minimize light pollution.

  • Styrofoam is not used anywhere on the property.

  • Guest room items are reusable, such a wooden hangers and metal guest room keys.

  • Green-friendly Aveda products are supplied throughout The Hermitage Inn including shampoos, conditioners, lotions, etc. in each guest room spa. These products are plant based and the company minimizes their packaging, maximizing the use of post-consumer recycled materials. They also use materials that can be and are recyclable, and design their packaging so that the individual parts can be separated for recycling.

  • The Hermitage Inn implements and follows an extensive property-wide recycling program for paper, newspaper, cardboard, cans, glass, aluminum, plastic, phone books, and compost from the restaurant.

  • An on-site vegetable and herb garden grows plant seedlings, which are used daily in our cuisine implementing our “farm-to-table” philosophy.

  • The office minimizes the use of paper, which is recycled. Used paper is ripped into squares for scrap paper.

  • The resort uses fair-trade organic coffees and teas.

  • The property’s rest rooms provide cotton hand towels, in place of paper towels.

Above and Beyond:

All grease taken from our kitchen is stored, and then recycled into bio-diesel fuel used in the local “Moover” buses. The Moover is free, local transportation around the Mount Snow Valley area.
