National Parks:

Wyoming is home to two major National Parks - Grand Tetons and Yellowstone.

 

The jagged peaks of the Grand Teton Range make for strenuous hiking and biking trails. If fitness is not your thing, then just let your camera do the work.

 

Yellowstone National Park was established as America's first national park in 1872. Located in Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho, it has a collection of the world's most extraordinary geysers, hot springs and the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. Spaning an area of 3,458 square miles of mountain wild land, and preserves abundant and diverse wildlife in one of the largest remaining intact wild ecosystems on Earth. Protecting the gray wolf, grizzly bear, bald eagle and lynx, home to one of the world’s largest concentrations of elk and the only place in the U.S. where bison have existed in the wild since primitive times.

 

 

 


Wildlife:

More than 600 species of wildlife inhabit Wyoming. This tremendous abundance and diversity of wild creatures can be attributed to the state's extremely diverse habitat. Wyoming is known as one of the few places in the United States where you can see wildlife from all major highways. The state of Wyoming supports an abundance of wildlife in the surrounding national parks, national forest and national wilderness areas. Moose, bison, mule deer and elk are all plant eating animals and can be found anywhere that a substantial food source is located. Meat-eating animals, like bears, coyotes and weasels follow their prey throughout the landscape. Jackson Hole visitors will have the opportunity to view the 7,000 head of elk spread across the nearly 25,000-acre National Elk Refuge located there.

 


 


Archaeology & Paleontology:

Whether it’s dinosaur bones you seek, or fossils of a different life form, Wyoming offers many different attractions. Wyoming is known for some of the largest dinosaur fossil quarries in the world. It's a digger’s dream and could be an exciting learning vacation for the whole family.

 


Biking, Hiking and Climbing:

Wyoming offers some of the most exciting cycling adventures in the world. If you enjoy mountain biking, you'll find the perfect trails almost anywhere. In Grand Teton National Park, you can travel the sagebrush flats and see antelope and other wildlife grazing by the path. Following the Snake River offers a relaxing ride with plenty of lovely scenery. Another choice is a mountain biking tour through Yellowstone National Park. With mountains that offer thousands of vertical feet in rise and drop and foothills that meander in and out of valleys, the variety of mountain biking trails in Wyoming is unsurpassed. With thousands of miles of hiking trails all around, the state of Wyoming holds much adventure for the backpacker. Explore the all the rock climbing areas that Wyoming has to offere, Devils Tower Area , Grand Teton National Park, Veda Voo just to name a few.

 


 

Western Adventures:

In Wyoming a variety of opportunities for horseback riding are offered. Some are working cow camp trips, others are trail rides for a day or short trip. Thre are ranches where in summer, guests can help work the cattle, or in fall, guests help drive the cattle down to winter pasture in the valleys. You can also find expeditions from a fixed camp in the mountains.

 


Fishing:

If your goal is spending an afternoon or a week on the blue-ribbon trout streams and rivers then we have tips on where to go. When it comes to fishing opportunities, you won't find Wyoming lacking.

 

 

 

Historical:

The Buffalo Bill Historical Center is widely regarded as America's finest Western museum. Located in north-western Wyoming, 52 miles from Yellowstone National Park's East Gate, the Historical Center features four internationally acclaimed museums under one roof.
